Understanding CCS
The new childcare package which commences in July 2018 includes changes to the way personnel roles are defined.
What is the Child Care Subsidy?
What will my subsidy be?
When the Child Care Subsidy commences on 2 July 2018, it will:
- replace the Child Care Benefit (CCB) and Child Care Rebate (CCR) with a single, means-tested subsidy
- be paid directly to providers to be passed on to families
- be simpler than the current multi-payment system
- be better targeted and provide more assistance to low and middle income families.
The Family Child Care Subsidy Estimator is available to make it easy for families to estimate their subsidy entitlement. This gives parents and carers an idea of what their new subsidy might be under the New Child Care Package.
The estimator is user-friendly and only takes a few minutes to fill out.
How do I Register?
When these changes are implemented on July 2nd 2018, your payments may change alongside your eligibility. Overall, the changes should be positive for most families, aiming to make the system more affordable, accessible and flexible. It will be much simpler than the current multi-payment system, and will be better target to provide more assistance to low and middle income families. Ask your parents to register a MyGov account as this will be important in authorising Enrolments and allowing the CCS to be accessed.
